Ben Franklin's $35K New Energy Idea Contest

Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central & Northern PA and PennTAP will award one winning entrepreneur with $35,000 to start or develop a clean energy-oriented idea that could turn into a business opportunity. This includes (but is not limited to) improvements to existing technologies, new hardware or software products that improve efficiency, new battery or fuel cell applications, engine and turbine technologies and agriculture-based projects.

Stairways Behavioral Health Recognized by Team PA as a Top 100 Employer

Congratulations to Dr. Richard Gacka, NWPA WIB member and Administrator at Stairways Behavioral Health!

Team Pennsylvania Foundation joined the Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Central Penn Business Journal in announcing Pennsylvania’s 100 Best Places to Work during an awards ceremony held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. Stairways Behavioral Health was listed as number 15 out of 100, an impressive recognition.

This Webinar highlights findings from the O*NET Program's report Greening the World of Work: Implications for O*NET- SOC and New and Emerging Occupations. The report describes the O*NET program's efforts to define the green economy; describe green industry sectors and identify different types of green occupations including green new and emerging occupations. The Webinar also presents how this new green information has been incorporated into O*NET products and tools to help workforce development professionals, educators, and individuals learn about and use the most current information on the green economy and green occupations.

Erie Student Addresses Youth Employment

Autumn Page, of Erie, participated in a panel discussion during the statewide Youth Services Academy conference in Grantville on Dec. 2.

Ms. Page shared her experiences with the summer youth employment program and suggested ways to improve youth work force development services to more than 100 service providers attending.

Ms. Page is a student in the Erie School District's Student Workforce Investment Program.
